This week on Tuesdays with Dorie we are making Apple Pielettes, little apple pies, from Baking Chez Moi. We are pie lovers and we were intrigued by these little desserts.
I made a half recipe and had enough dough and filling to make 9 pies, a bonus. I used a combination of Fuji and Gala apples for the filling.
These came out dry for us and I was glad I had made ice cream because it needed the moisture. I am not sure if I did not cut my apples small enough thus I got less in each or I baked them too long or a combination of both. The flavors were good just not moist. I love the idea of these little apple pies, I think they would be a warm welcome to my Thanksgiving table. I am not sure they are worth the extra work as making one big pie is much easier. But no matter how you slice it ice cream always goes good with pie and this Cinnamon Ice Cream from David Lebovitz was a home run. I will be making that again.
