Fresh Orange Pork Tenderloin

This week on French Fridays with Dorie, the group is making Sardine Escabeche (page 188). When I read this recipe it reminded me of my Dad eating sardines from a can with crackers and the cat begging him for a taste.  I love this memory but not sardines, I decided to do a make up.  I still had one extra pork tenderloin in my freezer so I decided to make Fresh Orange Pork Tenderloin (page 273).

We loved this pork tenderloin and we managed not to over cook it.  Love this whole fruit and meat thing we have going on lately.  I also made Betsy's duck fat potato recipe and loved those too. We had a salad before dinner so it was a balanced meal:)
Does your kitchen look like this?  I am beginning to think I have a problem.  These 4 books represented this weeks cooking assignments.
Yes 3 of the 4 are Dorie's.

These recipes are part of an international cooking group working our way through Around My French Table by Dorie Greenspan.

  1. My kitchen table does look like that as I have the week's books all laid out similarly. I think I would love those potatoes too!

  2. My Italian grandfather always at sardines straight from the can... never could get past the smell. Love them fresh, but I couldn't find them either. Glad you enjoyed the pork.

  3. I knew when this recipe was picked that there was no way I’d be making it! I just can’t do sardines…like Diane, I can’t get past the smell! Your pork looks delicious…glad it was a winner! Happy weekend!

  4. My counter constantly looks like that with lots of open books, or closed ones with markers sticking out of pages. I never stick with the plan and never get around to all the recipes I want to try. I'm glad you enjoyed the duck fat potatoes! They are a treat. Perfect to go with your pork.

  5. I do the same thing with my books and put them away as I tick the dishes off. Your pork tenderloin looks good.

  6. Haha, yes, my kitchen bookshelf does look like that! Duck fat potatoes are so awesome. Yum! The orange pork tenderloin looks and sounds delicious and I think I'll have to go and see if I've made that one yet. As for the escabeche, it was good with shrimp, but only do it if you like pickled things. (we love pickled stuff, so those flavors were nice)

  7. Diane, very nice take on the Orange Tenderloin with Duck Fat Potatoes - a very enjoyable combination, I am sure!
Cookbooks all lined up for the week - do that all the time but my kitchen is a tad too small for that, so I line them up close to the kitchen, on a shelf.
    Have a nice weekend,
    Andrea

  8. I like the pork/fruit combo also. But, then again, I really, really liked the duck with peaches. It just works for me also. I haven't gotten on the Duck Fat Potatoes bandwagon yet. They actually sell duck fat in a grocery store here. I thought that was odd...guess not. It was fun to see all your cookbooks, open and ready to go. I usually just stack mine up on the counter but, like Betsy, always am more ambitious than I can realistically follow through with making. I'm sure your nice husband and very smart young son love to see those cookbooks hanging out on the counter - it means Mama is cooking something special this week. It's fun, right?

  9. Cute story. My cat loved any fish which came out of a can:-)

And yes, both my kitchen and my dining room table are pretty much always stacked with cookbooks which I'm constantly flipping through. That's why I love this group, people who understand me:-)

  10. Yup, I have a stack of cookbooks on my counter, too! My mom loved sardines and so did me and my sisters---but I knew Bill wouldn't touch them. My parents also adored liver, but I wasn't so much of a fan :) Your pork and potatoes pairing looks like a wonderful meal!
